Nurse Executives NENZ – NURSING LEADING FOR HEALTH GAIN Objectives

Nursing leadership is essential to respond to the changing expectations of the health sector and to achieve health gain in our communities. The Nurse Executives of New Zealand (NENZ) is an organisation of nurse leaders representing primary, secondary and tertiary health providers with the purpose of providing strategic leadership for nursing in New Zealand, to advise and influence national policy and decision-making, to influence resource allocation, and to lead nursing workforce developments.

The Nurse Executives of New Zealand (NENZ) is an incorporated society comprising the most senior nurse/s in the District Health Board (DHB) or major health provider organisations and the senior nurse employed in each of the Department of Corrections, Ministry of Defence, Department of Occupational Safety & Health, and Ministry of Health.

Objectives

NENZ is a national forum for nurses in senior leadership positions in major health provider and policy organisations.

It was formed:
• To provide a forum for regional and national nursing leadership
• To debate issues influencing the direction of nursing
• To provide professional advice and comment on nursing and other Health related matters
• To influence the development of nursing practice by sharing ideas and providing support to the sector.

Promotes nursing contribution by:
• Celebrating professional innovation
• Recognising excellence
• Encouraging innovation in practice.

Increases the effectiveness of nurse leaders through:
• Dissemination of information
• Education of members
• Sharing of group wisdom
• Promotion of succession planning
• Networking of members
• Mentoring
• Collaboration and individual support.
